I am taking this opportunity to give my personal recommendation of Rick Hendrix for the teacher of the month.  Rick is one of the few individuals who have given of their time for very little pay to spend a few hours every other day teaching Ag Mechanics to our High School students.  As Rick's quality as a teacher and mentor to our students is great, I write this letter of recommendation with conviction.

Rick has been a teacher for Lund school going on three years now.  He started out teaching a nine week class on Electricity, but every year he has taken on more and more responsibilities until this year he has agreed to teach the Ag Mechanics class for the entire school year. The students love Rick.  They love the projects that he helps them with and express that they learn life lessons from Rick that they don’t get in any other classes.  Rick’s teaching exemplifies the motto of the FFA; Learning by Doing.  Along with being a great teacher, Rick also has volunteered as the FFA Ag Mechanics coach.  Helping a team of students to prepare for the State and Southern Zone Ag mechanics career development event held in Reno and Mesquite.  This team under Rick’s guidance has performed very well at zone conferences and have always placed in the top 10 at state competitions.  Rick also spends time with our students after school as their basketball coach and athletic director for Lund Schools. Rick truly sacrifices his time and efforts for the betterment of our school and students.

I can highly recommend Rick Hendrix for the teacher of the month award.  This committed educator has made and will continue to make huge contributions to the school and school district.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
